Limburg is in an idyllic location on the river Lahn. Its old town is full of picturesque half-timbered buildings and dominated by the late Romanesque cathedral with its seven towers. Limburg has two real treats for any avid museum-goer - the cathedral treasury and the Diocesan Museum, both exceptional displays with rare exhibits. The most precious exhibit is the famous Staurothek, a reliquary box dating from the 10th century. Limburg's art collections are on display at the art museum in the old town hall.
