A port with many facets
The North Sea health resort of Cuxhaven offers lots of exciting ideas for young, action-hungry holidaymakers.
The beach at Duhnen is one long strip of fine, white sand - perfect for playing or just lazing around. Cuxhaven offers a unique attraction at low tide: families can enjoy an excursion to the island of Neuwerk in a horse-drawn carriage known as a "Wattwagen". The Jan Cux dotto train, which runs along the promenade between the Alte Liebe viewing platform and the Duhnen naturist beach during the summer season, is also very popular. Children under 12 can enjoy themselves in all weathers at "Käpt’n Cux’s Hafen", a play complex with slides, trampolines, climbing frames and lots of other play equipment. There's also heaps of fun to be had at the "ahoi!" adventure pool, which has waves, a giant slide, a jacuzzi, a waterfall and a fun pool. The Duhnen mudflat races - horse racing across the sea bed - are the highlight of the season for everyone.
