Nature
The Hamburg Wattenmeer national park is in the Elbe estuary, upstream of Cuxhaven. It protects an area of about 12,000 hectares of coastal mudflats and is the habitat of huge colonies of sea birds. Guided tours of the mudflats on foot or by horse-drawn carriage are an unforgettable experience, and if you are lucky, you might find a piece of amber.
