Museums
The "Historical Museum on the Rhine - Hildegard von Bingen" has an exhibition about Hildegard von Bingen. The "Romanticism on the Rhine" section contains a number of pictures and exhibits relating to the theme. Another section contains a set of instruments belonging to a Roman surgeon from the second century. The Stefan George Museum is dedicated to the work of the poet Stefan George. Housed in a former electric power station, the Historical Museum on the Rhine contains three permanent exhibitions: "Romanticism on the Rhine"; the life and work of the famous Benedictine nun Hildegard von Bingen; and original exhibits from a set of surgical instruments belonging to a Roman surgeon. The Stefan George Museum is housed in the Stefan George House, also known as Bingen's Haferkasten (oat box). The exhibition documents the life and work of this German poet and features his writing desk, parts of his library, editions of his books and sculptures.
