Every March the beautiful Rheingau provides the setting for this festival of fine wine and good food, attracting visitors from other countries as well as from all over the region. The event is centred around the "Kronenschlösschen" restaurant in Hattenheim, where a veritable who's who of chefs and vintners, both from Germany and abroad, parade their talents. "Rhine in Flames" is one of the largest and oldest firework displays in Germany, attracting hundreds of thousands of enraptured visitors every summer. It's an all-day event, with stars from a variety of musical genres performing in marquees and on open-air stages. As evening draws in, the main event commences – the huge firework display, with boat cruises offering the best views of the romantically illuminated castles and palaces.
