In the majestic alpine landscape of Bad Reichenhall, the opportunities for walking, mountain climbing and various excursions are virtually inexhaustible. The saltwater spa resort is on the 450km German Alpine Road, which winds its way from Lake Constance to Berchtesgaden. Take your bike on the trail of the musical genius of Mozart in nearby Salzburg or trek up to the Eagle's Nest restaurant both can be enjoyed no matter what time of year it is. The German Alpine Road
A fairy-tale trip through the stunning panoramas of the alpine peaks. Lush alpine meadows and gentle hills alternate with steep mountain peaks, emerald-green forests, romantic valleys and crystal-clear lakes. Nestled against the grandiose mountain backdrop of the Bavarian Alps, traditional farming villages give way to historical towns, while ancient castles, abbeys and palaces are popular attractions. Why not stop off en route and visit an acclaimed historical health resort or a cultural monument? Mozart Cycle Path
A 450km cycle path following the footsteps of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart takes you through the finest lakeland scenery in the Salzburger Land region and Bavaria. The Mozart Cycle Path links lots of historical places in the Chiemgau, Berchtesgadener Land and Salzburger Land regions that are associated with the musical genius. The Mozart city of Salzburg has a timeless appeal for culture lovers with its festival hall, Mozart house, cathedral, catacombs, Salzburg Residence and Mirabell gardens. The Eagle's Nest
This mighty structure with its metre-thick foundations gives visitors a breathtaking view of the Berchtesgadener Land. Even the route from the car park to the Eagle's Nest is an extra-special experience, and a feat of engineering too a tunnel lined with natural stone takes you 124 metres through the expanse of rock to an ornate brass-decorated lift. This takes just 41 seconds to transport you another 124 metres up into the interior of the Eagle's Nest.
