Bielefeld's Farmhouse Museum was built in 1917 and is the oldest open-air museum in Westphalia. It focuses on providing a picture of rural life in the 1850s and illustrates life on the farm as a complex economic and social system. In the grounds of the museum you can tour a trestle windmill (1686), a bakehouse (1764), an old storehouse (Spieker) (1795) and a horse mill (1826).
