Events
During a stay in Heiligendamm and its surrounding area you can take part in countless recreational activities and social events. Many of these are based around water. For example, the Hanse Sail event and Aquanostra water festival attract visitors from near and far. In the summer, Germany's oldest race course plays host to a fantastic sporting event. Hanse Sail is the largest maritime event in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and attracts sailing enthusiasts from all over the world. On the second weekend in August around 200 tall ships and classic sailing vessels, and over a million visitors, converge on the area. It is a colourful festival with fascinating cultural events and entertainment to suit all tastes. There are around 30,000 crew members manning the vast array of tall ships, lovingly preserved traditional sailing vessels, museum ships and classic boats and yachts. AQUAnostra
This water festival takes place every June offering a diverse program of events such as art and music projects focusing on the theme of water. The Table d´Hôte, a 19th century communal meal for spa guests, marks the end of the two-week festival. Baltic Sea race meet
The Baltic Sea race meet takes place every summer over several consecutive days at the Bad Doberan race course. It is very popular with trainers and horse owners as well as horseracing fans and tourists as it provides the opportunity to combine a great social event with a seaside holiday.
