Hanse Sail is the largest maritime event in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and attracts sailing enthusiasts from all over the world. On the second weekend in August around 200 tall ships and classic sailing vessels, and over a million visitors, converge on the area. It is a colourful festival with fascinating cultural events and entertainment to suit all tastes. The Baltic Sea race meet takes place every summer over several consecutive days at the Bad Doberan race course. It is very popular with trainers and horse owners as well as horseracing fans and tourists as it provides the opportunity to combine a great social event with a seaside holiday.
