Trade fairs/exhibitions
Leipzig Exhibition Centre focuses on cars and mobility, books and new media, construction and architectural preservation, the environment, medicine and consumer goods. It is one of Germany's largest exhibition centres attracting over 10,300 exhibitors and more than one million visitors. For the 45 events held every year the Exhibition Centre rents a total of around 450,000m² of exhibition space, which corresponds to an occupancy factor of 9.1. Leipzig Book Fair
Held for the first time in 1946, Leipzig Book Fair already goes back a long way. Every March well over 100,000 visitors and more than 1,800 exhibitors from almost 30 countries converge on Leipzig to see the latest in the printed word, with the focus mainly on books, magazines, journals, calendars and also electronic media. Every year more than 130,000 computer fanatics congregate in Leipzig for four days to see the latest in computer games, software, hardware, and computer technology. Every April these two parallel trade fairs provide a showcase for vehicles of all kinds as well as spare parts, accessories, modifications, maintenance equipment, petrol station facilities, supplier parts and automobile services. They attract around 450 exhibitors and more than 275,000 visitors to Leipzig, including ten thousand car enthusiasts from Poland and the Czech Republic.
