Events
Old traditions are alive and well in the Harz. The salt festival, the festival of lights and the Sehusafest are just some of the many popular events in the region. Anyone who wants to get to grips with the Harz myths and legends should pay a visit to the Walpurgis Night festival. Goslar's Schützenfest fair boasts an accompanying flea market, and the Old Town festival is not to be missed. Walpurgis Night festival
According to legend, many sites throughout the Harz mountains have seen mysterious goings-on for thousands of years. Today, they are turned into eerie reality in Goslar's historical town centre. Witches, devils, ghosts and ghouls are let loose in the witches' village between the medieval façades. Every year on the night of the 30 April, thousands of people celebrate Walpurgis Night in Goslar and most other towns and villages in the Harz. Schützenfest fair
Held on the 86-hectare Osterfeld, Goslar's Schützenfest fair is among the largest of its kind in Lower Saxony. Every year, the ten days of festivities begin on the Friday preceding the first Monday in July. Two large firework displays and three parades attract people from well beyond the northern Harz town and its surrounding region. Old town festival
Every year on the first weekend in September, Goslar's town centre is transformed into an open-air party. The dancing, fun and festivities are centred around the market square, its Eagle fountain and the specially built festival pyramid. Live music is provided across a number of stages.
