Journey through 2,000 years of viticulture
The German Museum of Winegrowing portrays more than 2,000-year of the history of wine and its production. Antique drinking vessels from Celtic and Roman times in bright colours and quirky shapes are examples of this long tradition. An impressive collection from 13 German winegrowing regions offers an interesting insight into the work of the vintner. From working the soil and cultivating the vines, protecting them against frost and phylloxera to the various pressing methods and the artistic labels - the Museum of Winegrowing clearly demonstrates the whole process from the grape to the bottle. The exhibition also features a complete cooper's workshop, a collection of corkscrews, mousetraps and many historical and modern tools.
