Events
The two main highlights of Lauscha's events calendar are both in the winter, and they could not be more different. Firstly, there's the traditional Christmas market at which visitors can soak up the romantic festive atmosphere while enjoying glühwein and biscuits. Secondly, there's a whole host of winter sports on offer. Lauscha's "Kugelmarkt"
The idyllic Christmas market known as the Kugelmarkt is held in the run-up to Christmas every year in Lauscha, the birthplace of glass Christmas tree decoration. But Christmas tree baubles are not the only thing that will catch your eye at this Christmas market. Visitors can browse a huge range of Christmas tree decorations and hand-crafted glass items. There's also a tempting range of Thuringian specialities for you to sample - and all against the romantic backdrop of the snow-covered Thuringian Forest. FIS Ski Jumping Cup
In the spring of 1993, WSV 08 Lauscha applied for the first time to host a World Cup 'B' event for the 1993/94 season. It was given permission to host the Intercontinental Cup, and so the history of international ski jumping in Lauscha began. If you get the chance to watch a Continental Cup ski jumping event, you're sure to witness some thrilling battles between ambitious ski jumpers, including international stars such as Schmitt, Hannawald and Wiedhölzl.
