Museums
The region around Metzingen is dominated by viticulture and agriculture. At the Viticulture Museum and the Fruit-growing Museum, visitors can find out more about both subjects. Both museums offer an interesting and informative insight into the history of wine and fruit-growing as well as the traditional crafts associated with them. Viticulture Museum
Only one of the seven wine presses still contains the historical press beam once used to press the grapes. This building, dating from 1655, was therefore chosen as the site for the Viticulture Museum. In addition to the press beam, visitors can also see a selection of fascinating items and documents illustrating the history of winegrowing in Metzingen. Wine tasting is also available for groups by prior arrangement. Fruit-growing Museum
In Glems, on the idyllic outskirts of Metzingen, an old wine press was restored and put back into operation to celebrate the village's 750th anniversary. The striking historical building has been turned into a modern and vibrant museum. With a range of permanent and special exhibitions, it provides visitors with historical and technical facts on fruit-growing and the traditional methods used to produce fruit wine.
