On 13 May 2021 when it was decided that Berlin would host the 1936 Olympic Games, Havelland was the name on everyone's lips, because the Olympic village was to be built in the Havelland region, in the town of Elstal near Wustermark. Olympic village
Within two years the Olympic village had been constructed in Elstal on the western outskirts of Berlin, housing 4,000 male athletes from over 50 countries. Apart from the accommodation there was also a sports ground, running track and other facilities. After the Games the village was used by the military. Today you can learn about the history of the village through guided tours.
