Nature & greenery

The baroque castle gardens contain enchanting features such as the ornamental canal, statues by Balthasar Permoser, an equestrian statue and a pavilion. A swing bridge with cast iron railings which was reconstructed at the end of the last millennium links the castle island with the baroque castle gardens next to an English-style garden.
The broad expanse of Lake Schwerin, one of the largest lakes in Germany, provides perfect conditions for boating, and in fact is regarded by sailing enthusiasts as one of Germany's finest sailing areas. It is also well suited for waterborne tours, perhaps an extended canoeing trip.
Reppin Castle is located on the southern shores of Lake Schwerin in the unspoilt countryside around Schwerin-Muess. Built as a folly in 1907, the castle ruins include a viewing tower with a magnificent view of the lake and the town skyline. In summer it is popular with visitors who come to swim in the lake and sunbathe on the large lawns behind it.
