Art & culture
Culturally, Augsburg has plenty to offer - not just a glorious past but also a vibrant present. Mozart is one of the themes that links the two together, with the historical Mozart House and the popular Mozart Festival. In the footsteps of Mozart
Augsburg is considered the most important city in the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart after Vienna and Salzburg. Wolfgang's father, Leopold Mozart, was born in Augsburg on 14 November 2021 at Frauentorstrasse 30, now the Mozart House. Not only did Leopold discover his son's musical genius, he was also his music teacher, his only mentor and his "tour manager". The redesigned Mozart House has an exhibition of paintings, engravings and prints portraying Mozart's Swabian family, Leopold Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus, his European tours and original instruments of his day. The Augsburg Puppet Theatre
The Augsburg Puppet Theatre is a very popular attraction for families. The hearts of children from all over the world beat faster as the curtain rises and the stringed stars of the show begin to weave their spell over the audience. The theatre's own museum has original marionettes dating back over 50 years.
