Shopping
Augsburg has a long tradition as a centre of commerce. The wealthy Fugger dynasty made it the base for its trading activities from the twelfth century onwards, and Augsburg became known as "Fuggerstadt", or "Fugger City". Annastrasse/Bgm.-Fischer-Strasse
Annastrasse/Bgm.-Fischer-Strasse in the pedestrian precinct has large department stores and well-known chains. The many small lanes leading off from Annastrasse are packed with smaller shops. Maximilianstrasse
With its beautiful Renaissance and baroque buildings, Maximilianstrasse is one of the most attractive streets in Augsburg. Its galleries, little boutiques and wine shops make it is a great place for a stroll and a spot of window shopping. Citygalerie
To the south-east of the old town is the glass-roofed shopping arcade where around 100 specialist shops set out over two levels sell a wide range of goods. There is also a food court to round off the shopping experience.
