Events
From major events such as the Museum Embankment Festival and the Frankfurt Book Fair to sports events such as the Opel Ironman Germany Triathlon, there's never a dull moment in Frankfurt. Museum Embankment Festival
The Museum Embankment Festival takes place on the last weekend in August every year along the river Main and the Schaumain Quay. With more than three million visitors over the space of three days, it is one of the largest cultural festivals in Europe. The eight kilometre long festival site along both banks of the Main hosts a spectacular cultural event in which the museums present their work to the public through stage productions, projects and performances. Other attractions include the "choir and organ mile" organised by the churches, the "Klang im Kloster" music festival, cabaret, variety, music and specialities from all over the world, plus the ever-popular dragon boat races. The Opera Square Festival
Numerous stalls selling international culinary delights spring up every June on Opernplatz (opera square). There is a varied programme of entertainment around the fountain. This is the place to "see and be seen", and bankers, stock market traders and PR executives make up a large proportion of the crowds. Another element that makes this festival so special is the impressive backdrop of the Alte Oper concert hall.
