Permanent exhibitions offer an interesting insight into Kiel's history and a range of specific themes. The planetarium takes a fascinating look at the endless expanse of the universe. The city also has an interesting collection of antiquities. Geological and Mineralogical Museum
The museum has an amazing collection of crystals, minerals, rocks and fossils. Using models and illustrations, it explains the history of their creation, structure and technical/environmental significance. Visitors can also admire large pieces of ice-age debris from Scandinavia in the gardens in front of the institute. Mediendom/planetarium
The planetarium uses innovative projection technology to enable visitors to experience the endless expanse of the universe, its diversity and beauty. Enter the virtual spaceship and set off into the cosmos. Explore the world of the stars with the "Fascination of the Starry Sky" and "Planets - Wonderful Worlds" shows. The museum has an extensive collection of original ancient works (Greek earthenware and ancient crafts) as well as a large collection of casts of the foremost Greek and Roman sculptures (including the Parthenon Sculptures, the Apollo Belvedere and the Laocoon statue). A range of original vases and ancient crafts give a direct insight into the Ancient world.
