The Museum of Technology houses a number of exhibits that document the social and economic development of the town and surrounding area. The collection focuses on engineering, mining, the iron and steel industry, and agricultural and mill machinery. It also takes a look at the food and tobacco industry as well as urban crafts and everyday technology.
After its last voyage on the Elbe, the "Württemberg" was permanently anchored off Rotehorn island in 1974. There is an informative exhibition inside the steamship about shipping on the Elbe. Visitors can take a guided tour of the ship to gain a fascinating insight into the history of shipping machinery and the living conditions on board.
The art museum has a collection that consists of objects covering every single period of European art history. The permanent exhibition features works ranging from antiquity through to the modern day, 20th century German sculpture, a sculpture park and contemporary art. Highlights include works of medieval religious sculpture and spatial art from the post-1945 period.
