Air Berlin is Germany's second largest airline and the third largest low-cost carrier in Europe. The company has set new standards with its City Shuttle, a service that links eight German centres with the most interesting cities in Europe. The attractive price-performance ratio appeals equally to those travelling on business or for leisure.

The fleet currently consists of 46 aircraft, and with an average age of less than three years it is one of the most modern in Europe. In 2003 the airline managed to increase its turnover by 28 per cent to 894 million euros. It carried 9.6 million passengers and has a staff of over 2,200.
