Munich: Allianz-Arena

The new football stadium of the Bavarian state capital looks like a giant air cushion. Depending on the home team playing on the pitch the translucent cover made of diamond shaped foils glows in different colours. Because the Allianz-Arena is the new home stadium for two clubs, for FC Bayern Munich (red) and for TSV 1860 Munich (blue). During international or other matches the façade is illuminated in white. Light plays also an important role within the Allianz-Arena where you find merchandising shops and restaurants. During the day there is sunlight and at night there are the artificial colours. Like a shiny ribbon they guide the spectators from the bottom of the stairs to the top via four levels. Like a Jacob's ladder the 15 cascade-like stairs meander under the outer skin up to the top. The open construction always permits a fantastic view.
