Munich: Allianz-Arena

The new football stadium of the Bavarian state capital looks like a giant air cushion. Depending on the home team playing on the pitch the translucent cover made of diamond shaped foils glows in different colours. Because the Allianz-Arena is the new home stadium for two clubs, for FC Bayern Munich (red) and for TSV 1860 Munich (blue). During international or other matches the fa�ade is illuminated in white. Light plays also an important role within the Allianz-Arena where you find merchandising shops and restaurants. During the day there is sunlight and at night there are the artificial colours. Like a shiny ribbon they guide the spectators from the bottom of the stairs to the top via four levels. Like a Jacob's ladder the 15 cascade-like stairs meander under the outer skin up to the top. The open construction always permits a fantastic view.
