Wismar

Wismar's historical market square - with its brightly illuminated town hall, ornate fountain and fine old gabled houses - is transformed into a Christmas wonderland for the whole family. Enjoy the magical atmosphere while you browse through the extensive range of goods on offer, from Christmas decorations from the Erzgebirge mountains to lambskin shoes. For the opening ceremony, Father Christmas arrives at the old harbour and is brought to the market square in a horse-drawn carriage followed by a huge crowd. There is brass music from the balcony of the town hall and the aroma of culinary delicacies fills the air. In the historical village bread is baked in stone ovens and you can watch the blacksmith at work. There are plenty of activities on offer for kids at the children's Christmas market.
