Hamelin

Explore one of northern Germany's prettiest and most atmospheric Christmas markets in the heart of Hamelin's old town. Clustered around the church on the market square are 70 festively decorated wooden huts - perfect for yuletide shopping. The highlights are the Christmas pyramid, which stands at eleven metres, and the historical Hochzeitshaus (wedding house), which is transformed into a giant, illuminated advent calendar. At the Hamelin glassblowing works, children and grown-ups can make their own Christmas baubles under the watchful eye of the glassblowers. A Christmas cruise on the Weser river really captures the magic of the season. Hamelin also offers late-night shopping until midnight on 4 December.
