Landau is primarily renowned for its wines and gardens, but every year the scent of pine needles, sweet waffles and glühwein marks the arrival of the traditional 'Thomas Nast' Christmas market. It is named after the famous American cartoonist who was born in Landau. The friendliness of the local people is truly charming. Shooting stars are this year's theme, with heavenly bodies glittering everywhere on the stands. Children can bake yuletide treats in the Christmas bakery, and in the two heated pavilions you can watch 35 artisans practicing their craft.
