Göttingen's Christmas market on Marktplatz square has a magical atmosphere with rows of booths around the medieval old town hall, the Goose Girl statue and St. John's Church. Watch out for the fascinating craft demonstrations given by wood turners, glassblowers and candlemakers. Kids just adore the historical Ferris wheel and the old-fashioned carousel. When stomachs begin to rumble, traditional stalls sell glühwein and bratwurst. You can also sample Christmas treats in the elevated café in St. John's Church, while enjoying fabulous views of the Christmas market below.
