Straubing

Every year, mouth-watering seasonal treats, captivating concerts and the scent of pine needles mark the return of the Christmas market to Straubing. At around 35 stands, you'll find charming, hand-crafted products, great ideas for gifts and all manner of yuletide delights. The fairytale forest with its individually decorated Christmas trees creates an enchanting, festive atmosphere. It has lots of attractions just for kids, including the children's bakery, magic games, Punch and Judy shows, circus drummers and a writing workshop. St. Nicholas and his helper also make an appearance to hand out little presents. The enormous Advent calendar on the front of a grand town house is a marvellous sight, and Straubing has a fascinating Nativity trail, which links 22 displays in the churches and squares of the town centre - guided tours are available. No visit is complete without enjoying the fabulous view of Straubing in all its seasonal splendour from the tower.
