Christmas Markets

Stroll around Kiel's Christmas market in Holstenstrasse and on Alter Markt square for a yuletide trip to remember. Fill up with seasonal fare from the traditional punch and food booths and find wonderful Christmas gifts at the craft stalls. You can also go ice-skating and curling at the huge rink that covers 700 square metres of the town hall square. The town has a strong maritime tradition because of its location on the firth of Kiel: guided tours will show you just how charming the port is at winter, or you can take a Christmas trip on the old-fashioned paddle steamer 'Freya', which includes an overnight stay.
