The Christmas market in Stralsund, a UNESCO World Heritage town, offers a romantic Advent atmosphere and a sense of Hanseatic tradition. It extends from the festively decorated Alter Markt square with its Gothic town hall, past historical town houses and merchants' buildings to Neuer Markt square. Alter Markt square is also an enchanting place to go ice skating. The Christmas ice rink stays open until 3 January 2011. Why not join in the celebrations for the 'Stralsund on Ice' New Year's Eve party? It's a great way to ring in the new year and promises to be lots of fun.
