Enjoy a festive stroll around the Christmas market in Darmstadt, which stretches across the market square, Ernst-Ludwig-Platz, Friedensplatz and Luisenplatz squares, and the Carree and Schlosshof courtyards. Seasonal stalls representing towns twinned with Darmstadt lend an international flavour to proceedings: Trondheim in Norway, Hungary's Gyönk, Brescia in Italy and Ukrainians from Ushgorod offer speciality food and drink as well as arts and crafts from their homelands. The experience becomes even more enchanting if you stop for a while on the market square and listen to the music on the open-air stage. Children get to meet Santa Claus in his sleigh on 6 December, and there is a guided Christmas tour for the inside-track on festive Darmstadt. A programme of entertainment for kids caters for the little ones.
