The history of Leipzig’s Christmas market
goes all the way back to 1767. It is one of the
largest and most beautiful in Germany, with
around 250 stalls on the city’s historical market
square. Attractions include the fairytale
forest, the Old Leipzig medieval market and the world’s largest free-standing Advent
calendar. Watch the grand miners’ parade,
an old-established tradition in the Erzgebirge
region, and enjoy the delightful trumpeters,
concerts by the famous St. Thomas’s
choir and performances of Bach’s Christmas
oratorios in the city’s churches.
