On the 9.5 hectares area of the fortress are more than 30 different buildings - witnesses of past centuries: inter alia the Well house with the restaurated conveyer system of water, the oldest garrison church of Saxony, the oldest barracks of Germany (1589/90) which is retained up today. Former here lived soldiers with their families like in a little town. Today exhibitions and documentations tell the history of the Königstein in the different buildings. With the attendance on a guided tour one can have a look into the underground fortifications for example.
