Bonn: House of the History of the German Federal Republic

The substantial foundation collection on the museum mile in Bonn, in the immediate vicinity of the Bundeskunsthalle and of the Bonn Museum of Art, grants a detailed insight into recent years of German history. More than 6,000 exhibits illustrate the period from 1945 and the founding of the Federal Republic to the separation and the reunification with the GDR to the 21st century. Since 1999 there is a subsidiary in Leipzig, the Zeitgeschichtliches Forum, a second information and documentation centre.
