France has its Mount Blanc, the Rockies have Mount McKinley and the Country Park Duisburg-Nord has also something to offer. It has a climbing garden in old ore bunkers. Its face is unique in Germany. The climbing routes in the bunkers are the highlights, but the bunkers are also crossed by a rock-climbing walk. The walk is a "mountain track" interrupted by easy climbing passages which feature peaks, troughs, walls and bridges. The walk is secured by steel ropes and is provided with climbing aids such as ladders and rungs.
The climbing garden is only open to members and guests of the Duisburg Group of the German Alpine Club. Information is available from the office of the Alpine Club, located in the Country Park.
