A hint of the Amazon in northern Germany
This region not only has around 200 lakes, it also offers the rivers Oder, Dahme and Spree. South-east of Berlin is the starting point for the longest canoeing circuit in central Europe.
On the upper reaches of the branching river Spree, watersports lovers will feel a hint of the Amazonian jungle. Twinkling between undulating sands and river valleys is Lake Scharmützel or "Brandenburg's sea". Along with Lake Schwieloch, this is a paradise for kayakers, windsurfers, sailors and swimmers. The really adventurous can try out the wakeboard and water-ski cable tow at nearby Lake Petersdorf. Irrlandia activity park in Storkow is ideal for an exciting family day out: children can climb, slide, build, create and amuse themselves to their heart's content in the spacious grounds.
The Tropical Islands in Krausnick offer a tropical landscape featuring an indoor rainforest, a tropical village, a waterslide tower, a beach and a children's play paradise (4,000m²).
