Lake Cospuden

The longest sandy beach in Saxony 

Lake Cospuden is on the edge of Leipzig in the Leipzig Lakes, a leisure and recreation area created by the flooding of disused open-cast mines.

The north beach (200,000m²) - a sandy beach with grassy meadows, a beach bistro and a beach lounge with music at the western end and a dog beach - is an attractive destination for the summer months. Children especially love the water playground with its climbing frames right in the water. The aim is to clamber over the poles and posts without getting your feet too wet. The lake's watersports and recreation centre - Zöbigker marina in Markkleeberg - has a Scandinavian atmosphere with cosy restaurants and a lively atmosphere. Around the lake is a 10km circular track which is ideal for inline skating or a more unconventional form of transport: the cycle rickshaw, available to hire at the marina. Alternatively you can tour the lake on the MS Cospuden, which departs hourly from the marina.
