Tip
Detour to Potsdam
Potsdam, the regional capital of Brandenburg, is one of Germany's top cultural destinations and the park around the Sanssouci Palace, now a UNESCO World Heritage site, is one of the most popular visitor attractions in this former seat of Prussian power. You should also make time for a stroll through the Dutch quarter and the Russian quarter of Alexandrowka - stopping off of course for a cup of chi in the tea house - and then visit the Russian Orthodox church or wander through the city centre to the Brandenburg Gate and the Church of St. Nicholas.

66 lakes around Berlin
The Brandenburg countryside is a patchwork of unspoiled landscapes clustered around Berlin. Sparsely populated, the whole region is a haven of peace and tranquillity. Gently rolling hills frame countless lakes, large and small, while the Havel and Spree rivers follow their own course through spectacular scenery, both within the Spree Forest and beyond.
The 66-Seen-Weg, a waymarked trail through walking country dotted with secluded swimming areas, encircles Germany's capital city, Berlin. Take a refreshing dip then continue your walk through dense, silent woods, along unspoilt lakeside paths and beside brilliant yellow fields of oilseed rape. The contrast between the bustling capital city full of sights and sounds, and the tranquil countryside just a stone's throw away could not be greater. As it winds its way through the Brandenburg region, the route links eight regional parks and places of interest such as Marquart stately home, Roman baths, Charlottenhof Palace and Sanssouci Palace and Park as well as nature conservation areas such as the riverbank meadows along the Havel, and Anna valley with its romantic river.
