The 66 lakes trail is a great way to get to know the densely wooded, water-rich landscape around Berlin. Starting and finishing in Potsdam, the route cuts a cross-section through Brandenburg's very diverse countryside. With forests, heathland, marshland, riverbank woods, meadows, fields and - the most striking feature - a vast number of small and large lakes and waterways, the scenery is certainly varied. Surrounded by such a wealth of flora and fauna, walkers will enjoy some exciting encounters with nature. For those with an interest in culture there are also castles, manor houses, windmills, watermills and idyllic small towns along the way. Because this trail has no tiring hill climbs and is well served by public transport, it is suitable for less experienced walkers and nature lovers who aren't particularly fit.
