In the lovely Tauber Valley

The "lovely Tauber Valley" is the right spot for a spontaneous excursion or a romantic holiday. It is famous for its specialities: first-class wines and a traditional cuisine. You can best explore the Tauber Valley in a very slow tempo: just follow the very well sign-posted biking and hiking routes.

If you start your journey in the world famous town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, not only the enclosed medieval townscape of the formerly free royal town, but also the town's rich and turbulent history will captivate you. Watch it come alive during one of the town´s historic plays, such as the "Master Draught".

Welcome in the Land of Relaxation

At the crossroads of the Romantic Road, the Saxon Wine Route and the Swabian Poets Route there lies the spa resort of Bad Mergentheim. It is here that you can find pure relaxation: in Bad Mergentheim´s spa park or in the pool and leisure complex Solymar. Furthermore, the town boasts a fascinating history and exhibits connected to the Teutonic Order are on view at the Deutschorden Castle.

With its Franconian half-timbered houses, churches and chapels, the old town of Tauberbischofsheim (see picture), full of nooks and crannies, invites you to take a stroll, go shopping or just admire the window displays. Further downstream the Tauber then leads you through its beautiful landscapes to the river´s estuary at the town of Wertheim, a gem of Franconian architecture.
