OLAF NICOLAI | ESCALIER DU CHANT
01-Jan-2011 - 31-Dec-2011 - München (Bavaria)

Olaf Nicolai (b. 1962) is one of the most versatile contemporary German artists. Since 1997, he has created a broad spectrum of interdisciplinary works that constitutes a dialogue of themes between art, nature and music, body, time and space, often incorporating historical or social conditions of the exhibition site. The artist's latest project, developed for the large staircase at Pinakothek der Moderne, is a sound installation that has the human voice at its centre – its power of emotional expression as well as its political dimension. Songs by contemporary international musicians composed during the twelve months of 2011 and dealing with political events will form a 'chronicle' of the year to be performed live on twelve Sundays.

Location:
Pinakothek der Moderne
80333 München
